About the Card Game Called In-Between

In-Between card game is played in the following manner: Everybody antes. Each player receives one card face-up, after which players, starting from the first player sitting to the left of the dealer, play their turns in the clockwise direction. Every player in his turn is dealt the second face-up card and is offered to bet on whether or not the next card from the top of the deck will numerically fall between the two cards he was dealt. The amount of the bet must be equal or lower than the size of the pot. Players can also decline betting. If the player bets and wins, he collects amount equal to his bet from the pot. If he loses he places his bet into the pot. If the third card matches one of two cards of the player he not only loses his bet, but pays an additional amount equal to his bet into the pot. The game continues until someone wins the entire pot.

Example of the Game:

Example: A player is dealt a three and an eight. If he bets that the next card will fall between, and the next card is a six, the player wins. If the next card is a ten, he loses. If it is a three or an eight, he pays double. The best hand in the game is a pair of matching cards. Betting on the next card not falling in between, the player has the best chances to win.

If the deck ends before anyone has cleared the pot, cards are shuffled and dealt again. The dealer may also specify alternative game duration. For example, he may set a two decks minimal limit, so if the pot was cleared before the entire deck was dealt two times, everybody re-antes and the game continues. Another way to make the game longer is to limit the maximum allowed bet to half the pot rather than the full pot. In this case two maximum bets must be won it a row in order to clear the pot.

As long as there are no standard betting rounds in the game, and the pot has to be large enough to make betting the full pot risky enough, it is advisable to make antes higher than in standard game. The game plays well with antes three times the normal denomination, so if players are used to play at a nickel table, the best ante for In-Between will be 15 cents. However, when deciding on the size of the ante, players must take into the account that if the specified rules say so, they may be requested to re-ante more times during the game if someone empties the pot before the minimum duration limit is reached.
